Indie electronic producer Youthfire reveals new track ‘Nice Boys’ featuring Abraham Tilbury and announces intimate Melbourne single launch
Following from previous single ‘Emerging’, ‘Nice Boys’ sees Youthfire settling further into their own as an artist, producer, songwriter and person, pushing the boundaries of their sound with bold confidence and a strikingly beautiful sentiment. Working with local electronic artist Abraham Tilbury, ‘Nice Boys’ is a mellowed out trip that delves in and out of futuristic new wave and indie pop, pitting minimalist beats against mesmerizing vocal layers in an all encompassing exploration into the beauty of queer life. Self-recorded and produced with co-writing from Abraham Tilbury, the track also features Brisbane musician Kathryn Mckee on cello, was mixed by Tristan Hoogland (Huntly, Touch Sensitive, Golden Vessel) and mastered by Matthew Agoglia (The Gorillas, Joywave) at The Ranch Mastering.
Ever the collaborator, Stephen Carmichael has shared the stage with Melbourne soul powerhouse Mo•Louie and Abraham Tilbury at the Collarts campus launch late last year, and previously produced the celebratory launch event ‘Technicolour Wonderland’ during Melbourne Music Week. Recently navigating the space between coming out, growing up, and finding belonging, Youthfire has become more than just a musical outlet for Stephen Carmichael. Now the embodiment of a true touchstone for Carmichael’s own self-discovery, join Youthfire as he launches ‘Nice Boys’ alongside a NEW live set featuring Mo•Louie with special guests Yollks (live) and House Mum (DJ set) at Melbourne’s best-kept secret, Horse Bazaar this June.
