We are throwing down the gauntlet and setting all you Creatives a very exciting challenge. Using no more than one Australian standard small hay bale, we challenge you to create something extraordinary for the inaugural Hay Bale Challenge.

There are no restrictions on what the artwork is provided you use a maximum of one standard small bale (900mm x 375mm x 450mm and 27kgs) or smaller. Other materials can be used provided that the artwork, in the opinion of the judges, is inherently a work from only one bale of hay (or straw).

Artworks must be transportable and available to be displayed outside in York during the festival. All artworks submitted for the Hay Bale Challenge can be made available for sale (commission is applicable to all artworks sold).

A jury will assess entries for the Judge's prize of $1,000 and there is a People's Choice award of $200. Entry fee $20.

This is an inaugural art prize which will become a fixture of The York Festival.

To enter, complete the Hay Bale Challenge Entry Form 2016 and pay the $20 entry fee. Last date for entry is Friday, 12th August, 2016. A Notification of Participation will be sent out to all entrants within 7 days of receiving the entry form.
