Specialising in original songs as well as impertinent parodies, female a cappella group Ginger and Tonic's combination of superb voices create their unique, much lauded sound. Making their Melbourne International Comedy Festival debut with award-winning production 'Desperate and Dateless' at The Coopers Malthouse, these ladies will be charming audiences for a limited season from the 30th of March to the 9th of April, 2017.

The Ginger and Tonic gals are at a loss as to why their relationships never work out, after all they're vivacious, outgoing, gorgeous women?! They've played hard to get, then easy to get, tried salsa classes, and also swiped right on Tinder. They've even tried just "being themselves", and nothing seems to work. But every pot must have a lid and these determined women won't stop until they find theirs...

Ensemble member Jane Patterson gives some background on the group, and the show, "When Ginger and Tonic first formed, we were a bunch of unashamed choir nerds. We don't take ourselves too seriously and love the challenge of just using our voices. We use beat boxing and pop-style arrangements to create a full, fun sound. Contemporary a cappella has become pretty popular in recent years, but the humour makes what we do very different. People can expect to hear some top notch singing in Desperate and Dateless, and they'll learn what it's like to be a single lady on the prowl. The show is going to be a lot of fun for us AND audiences, and could even result in a date for someone if they're lucky! Win."

Since forming in 2010, Ginger and Tonic have performed nationally as a headline act at the Festival of Voices in Hobart, toured internationally to Germany to perform at the International A Cappella Festival in Leipzig, and in 2012 won first place at SingFest - Australia's leading a cappella festival and competition. They have also performed at festivals all around Australia including Port Fairy Folk Festival, Perth's FringeWorld, Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne Cabaret Festival and the Queenscliff Music Festival.
