David Fairbairn is one of Australia's leading artists. Born in Zambia, he moved to Australia in 1981. Since then, he has won over 40 awards and prizes and exhibited widely. He has won the prestigious Dobell Drawing Prize, the Doug Moran Portrait Prize and has been an Archibald Prize finalist seven times. He begins his art process with sketches and photographs before transforming them to print-making using techniques such as dry-point, copper etching and monotypes using oil sticks and inks. The prints are then overlaid with drawing and painting. Join us for a informative talk by David as he shares his passion for art with us.
