Flying Fruit Fly Circus Announces $100,000 Residency Program for Artists
Applications are open until 5pm on Wednesday 11 February 2026
The Flying Fruit Fly Circus is proud to announce that applications are now open for Under Construction, an established circus residency program taking place between 27 July and 30 October 2026, which now includes residencies in Albury and at the Circus Centre Melbourne.
The Flying Fruit Fly Circus are proud to champion emerging and established circus and physical theatre artists living in Australia to develop innovative new work, with this program being an opportunity for creatives to test bold ideas in professional rehearsal spaces and to connect with the circus community.
This year, Under Construction has received a significant boost, thanks to a major grant from Creative Australia, growing the total package of support in 2026 to over $100,000 in cash and in-kind assistance.
Each residency will receive:
Chief Executive Officer, Richard Hull said, “Circus demands space and we have two of the best circus facilities in the country. We want the most exciting work to be created here with us, and to go on to populate festivals and theatres around the world. We are committed to making this process easy and accessible for artists.”
Artistic Director, Anni Davey said, “Bringing professional artists into our spaces to interact with FFFC students and those who are aspiring to careers in contemporary circus provides invaluable inspiration, exposure through observation to professional practice, and opportunities helping to establish professional networks.” v Applications for the Albury residency are open to individuals or groups living in Australia with an independent arts practice in circus or physical theatre, and the Melbourne residency are open to individuals or groups living in Victoria with an independent arts practice in circus or physical theatre.
Successful applicants will be asked to contribute to the circus community through skills sharing, knowledge and experience, as well as one informal showing or artists talk about the work during the residency, or a ticketed performance, if in Albury.
