EY People's Choice & Kids' Choice Prize announced as Sculpture By The Sea, Cottesloe draws to a close
Lucy Humphrey from NSW was today announced as the recipient of the EY People's Choice Prize for Horizon. The breathtaking work which is a monument to the coastal landscape has captivated visitors during the 13th annual Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe.

The $5,000 EY People's Choice Prize is voted for by visitors to the exhibition and was awarded at Cottesloe Beach at 2pm today by Michael Anghie, EY's Managing Partner Western Region. The EY People's Choice Prize is part of the sponsorship of Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe by professional services firm EY.
Congratulating the winner, Michael Anghie said, "On behalf of EY, I would like to congratulate Lucy Humphrey on her fantastic sculpture which has captured the hearts and minds of the people of Western Australia.
As a firm, we are committed to making a positive contribution to the communities in which we live and as such recognise the critical role the arts has in contributing to a vibrant economy, a diverse culture and community and in educating and inspiring our people."
He added "This is our fourth year of sponsoring Sculpture by the Sea and the EY People's Choice Prize and we are very proud to be involved. The iconic and free event certainly connects with our community, not only showcasing the incredible work of the artists, but also our stunning Cottesloe Beach. Thank you to David and the team at Sculpture by the Sea for ensuring the people of Perth continue to enjoy this unique and world class exhibition."
'Horizon' has proved so popular with the public that it has also received the Kids' Choice Prize, which is voted for by children who visited Cottesloe Beach during the 18-day exhibition.
The Hon. Julie Bishop MP Minister for Foreign Affairs and Member for Curtin, the constituency Cottesloe is a part of, announced Humphrey as the recipient of the $2,000 prize.
Ms. Bishop said "I am pleased to announce that Lucy Humphrey is the recipient of both the Kids' Choice Prize and the People's Choice Prize. Her winning piece 'Horizon' has captivated the imagination of viewers of all ages."
She added "To receive both awards is a reflection of the quality of her work and her creative talent. I wish her every success in her future artistic endeavours."
Sydney-based film and television producer Rebel Penfold-Russell, a longtime friend of the exhibition, along with her sons Emrys and Jasper, provide the Kids' Choice prize as part of their private support of Sculpture by the Sea.
The Founding Director of Sculpture by the Sea, David Handley AM said the Cottesloe exhibition is one to remember; "It's been a delight walking through the exhibition with thousands of school children during the day and tens of thousands of people each evening on the weekends. Thank you to the artists and everyone for making the exhibition so special."

The 13th annual exhibition of Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe featured 77 sculptures by artists from across the world. Perth's largest free to the public outdoor event will officially close on Monday 20 March.
