EPIC LINE-UP OF ENTERTAINMENT PLANNED FOR CLIPPED MUSIC VIDEO FESTIVAL

CLIPPED Music Video Festival returns for Vivid Sydney 2019 with an exciting line-up celebrating all things music video. A jam-packed program featuring live music and art, VR experiences, a music video exhibition, premiere screenings, a prestigious awards competition and industry discussion panels, CLIPPED is Australia's only dedicated music video event, presenting high calibre work by talented Australian and International filmmakers.
Taking place on Saturday 15 June at SUNSTUDIOS Alexandria, the CLIPPED Music Video Festival program features some of the biggest names in the industry including, Sing J. Lee (UK) and Sylvia Zakhary of MAMAG Studios, Washington (AU) and Nick Waterman (AU), Tim Main(UK/AU) of Tim & Joe, Bondi Hipsters co-creator Christiaan Van Vuuren (AUS) and legendary cinematographers John Ogden ACS (AU) and Jane Castle ACS (AU).

The full line-up for CLIPPED Music Video Festival features:

SPEAKER PANELS

Acclaimed British music video director and Creative Director for MAMAG Studios, sponsor of the Festival, Sing. J. Lee will be joined by MAMAG Studio founder Sylvia Zakhary for an in-conversation style discussion sharing insights into their creative approach to filmmaking. Lee has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including Donald Glover, Migos, Pharrell, John Legend, Zayn, Placebo, Muse, Vance Joy, Halseyand CHVRCHES. Together, Lee and Zakhary are co-creators and collaborators across a multitude of projects and mediums, having most recently produced the short film series "Donald Glover Presents" for Adidas.

CLIPPED will also host an engaging industry panel made up local artists leading the charge in the industry right now. Moderated by Director Tim Main whose video for Duke Dumont screened as part of the official jury selection for SXSW's Film Festival and won Best Music Video at the Ibiza Music Video Awards, the panel features ARIA award winning musician/director Washington with partner and award-winning director Nick Waterman, Christiaan Van Vuuren of Bondi Hipsters and Soul Mates fame and ABC Rage Producer Yasmin Vought.

The Festival also presents a special cinematography panel featuring Australia's own John Ogden ACS and Jane Castle ACS, who collectively have worked with the likes of Prince, INXS, U2, Midnight Oil, Mavis Staples, Mary J. Blige, Usher.

CHORUS VR EXPERIENCE

For a multi-player VR experience like no other, get ready for Chorus. This shared VR experience transforms up to five players into fantastical female warriors, sending them on an epic journey to a faraway galaxy. Here players clash with treacherous space monsters to save their species from extinction - all of which is orchestrated to the song "Chorus" by Justice.

LIVE ART AND MUSIC

A range of art forms will be on display at CLIPPED, including award-winning artist Spectator Jonze who will be creating a live art piece throughout the day. Live music will also feature heavily, as well as CLIPPED VJ's spinning visuals, punters will enjoy the sounds of Sydney based odyssey Nikkita Ra, newcomers Lorelei and alternative R&B artist A.Girl with a stripped back acoustic set.

SCREENING EXHIBITIONS

Special Music Video exhibitions and premieres will play all day throughout the venue so in between a bite to eat and networking, punters can take a seat and witness some of the best music clips submitted to CLIPPED. One exhibition space will feature the very best Australian clips whilst another features the New Zealand and international clips brought to the Festival.

Digital technology manufacturer Wacom will be on hand with a bunch of their state of the art tablets, also featuring the very best in animated music videos supplied to the Festival's awards whilst ABC's Rage have compiled some of their favourite Wild Ones (Rage's weekly pick of the most outstanding independent music video) to play, showcasing the incredible talent that's been bubbling in the emerging music and video scenes respectively.

AWARDS NIGHT

The awards evening will begin with a screening of the Top 40 Music Videos from the CLIPPED Music Video Festival competition in their true cinematic form, then followed by the awards ceremony. The finalists have been pre-judged by an illustrious panel including iconic director Russell Mulcahy, ABC's Rage Producer Maurice Branscombe and representatives from production companies around the world including Compulsory, Agile Films & VANDAL.

Following the screening, an announcement of the CLIPPED Music Video Festival winners will take place where finalists will compete for a share in up to $20K worth of prizes. A networking and celebratory after party with special guests and VJS will follow the awards presentation.

CLIPPED TRADE SHOW

A key feature of this year's Festival will be an exclusive CLIPPED Trade Show. Demonstrations, specials offers and discounts only available at the Festival will feature heavily with some of the industry's biggest brands represented, including Atomos, Nuraphone, Digital Projection, BirdDog, Angelbird, LitePanels, Sachtler, Canon, Blonde Robot, ARRI and Avid Media. For helpful advice, lawyers from Chris Chow Creative Lawyers will be available to answer those burning legal questions and One Solutions will be giving free accounting and tax consultations for creatives.
