Musica Viva Australia is delighted to announce the 3rd edition of the national chamber music competition, Strike A Chord, with entries open now.
Strike A Chord encourages secondary school students across Australia to form chamber music ensembles between three and eight players in any vocal or instrumental combination, performing music that is ‘classical’ in style.

With a total prize pool worth over $40,000, comprising of cash and professional development prizes being awarded at all stages of the competition, Strike A Chord gives students the opportunity to explore their potential and discover the joy of making music, whatever their level of ability.

Students who have just begun their musical journeys can enter the free Novice Section with cash prizes awarded by Yamaha Music Australia.

In addition to the prizes, twelve aspiring groups from across Australia will be invited to perform live at Melbourne Recital Centre for the Grand Final on Saturday 27th August. In 2021 there were participants from every state in Australia with the total reach increasing by over 300% from the year prior.

Entries will close on Thursday 2nd June.

Strike A Chord is presented in partnership with Creative Victoria, Melbourne Recital Centre and the Australian National Academy of Music, with support from Major Partner Monash
