Duality Melbourne - a blind date of the art world

Published by: Kendall Munns | 7-Aug-2019
Duality is an experiment that pairs 25 writers with 25 artists from Melbourne to explore the relationship between visual and literary narrative. Duality's producer and photographer Shannyn Higgins has photographed all 50 in their creative spaces. The results have been kept secret until the exhibition's opening night. @dualityexperiment

Duality is an art experiment that pairs 25 Melbourne artists with the anonymous words of 25 Melbourne writers - removing any trace of context, identity or origin from the writers' words, leaving the artist to interpret and respond blindly.

The result is a truly unique interactive exhibition experience that will leave audiences buzzing with intrigue and dialogue.

To complement the project, Duality founder and curator Shannyn Higgins photographed and filmed each of the 50 creatives in their workspaces for a candid behind-the-scenes portrait series. These portraits will feature in a limited edition coffee table book and an exhibition, where all words, art and photographs can be shared with the audience.

The works and the creative pairings are kept a secret to all; only to will be revealed to the participating creatives, media and public at Duality's launch during the Melbourne Writers Festival on Friday 30 August.

Duality is a free event, open to the public from:
