Tonglen: A Tibetan Buddhist term describing the meditative, cyclic breathing in of distress and the consequent breathing out of ease.

During the afternoon of Thursday, 22 September 2016 (Spring equinox) the second stage of Domenico de Clario's 'tonglen burial project', which began in May 2016, will be completed with the first partial filling of the burial site. A collaborative sound performance beginning at sunset on Thursday evening and ending at the rising of the moon at exactly midnight.

The third and final stage of tonglen will take place on the new moon of 29 November 2016 when the burial site will be completely filled and covered with a landscaped mound overlooking the eight-acre Sky Garden.

The ritual planting of seven trees (an olive, a fig, a lemon, a cypress, an orange, a grapevine and a casuarina pine) atop the mound will begin at sunset on November 29. The planting will be followed by a collaborative sound performance.

"Until then I thank you for your continued interest in and your support of tonglen. Thank you Helen Vivian and Ross Lake for your generous support of this project. Thank you various members of my family for your constant and unqualified support of this project since 1971 and thank you especially Mario, Graziella and Linda de Clario. " - Domenico de Clario
