DARCY FOX RELEASES CHAPTER ONE EP & HEADS OFF ON TOUR

Published by: Danae Effern | 28-Feb-2017
Hailing from the Latrobe Valley in regional Victoria Darcy Fox is a pop folk artist that holds song writing close to her heart, evident on her upcoming EP release, Chapter One.
Co-produced by Darcy and Jack Hookey, Chapter One was recorded in Cowaar, Gippsland over a couple of months. Darcy took her time with the recording, song by song, with her and Jack playing all the instruments on the EP the sound came together naturally.

The EP title pulled from the final track, a song about holding on through any struggles you are going through because it is just the beginning of your journey, and things will get better.

Lead single "Hurricane" is the first taste of the EP, a song about owning up to your mistakes and vowing to do better. Some unique and interesting sounds were employed in the recording of the track, the sound of coins being dropped to make a snare sound and the rattling of an old petrol pump to create the rhythm at the end of the song. Much of the song is made up of loops as that is how it is created live.

The EP ebbs and flows, from "Little Box of Matches" written whilst Darcy was waitressing and the idea struck, written on a napkin and finished later that night after she finished work. It is a song about fire, and how metaphorically some times things just have to burn to the ground before you can start new again. Whilst themes of love are explored in tracks "This Love" and "Waiting" a song about love over long distance.

Darcy has spent the last few years touring Australia and New Zealand with highlights being shows at Adelaide Fringe Festival with Imogen Clark and MANE as well as supporting spots with The Pierce Brothers and Vera Blue. Late last year Darcy achieve a career highlight in playing a sold out show at the renowned Bluebird Café in Nashville.

Around the release of Chapter One EP Darcy heads off on Australian tour dates through Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne along with an appearance at the Groundswell Music Festival in March, playing alongside Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss, Russel Morris and more.
