AWESOME Arts Creative Challenge took on a new look with its 2018 regional program 'Different Voices' during the Sept/Oct school Holidays. Artists in residence Martine Perret and Jonathan Mustard opened up the challenge to the wider Wiluna community in the drop in school holiday sessions. We saw some spectacular photography from the participants of the workshop and the celebration at the end of the 2 week residency was well attended by participants and family members of the community.
The AWESOME Arts 2018 Creative Challenge got stuck into some amazing photography in Wiluna during the Sept/Oct school holidays with new arts project, Different Voices'. The program is designed for remote and regional schools but this school holidays is on offer to the wider Wiluna community as an AWESOME drop in holiday program. Creative Challenge is presented in partnership with BHP promoting the valuable educational work that happens in some of WA's most remote and regional communities.

Over two weeks, the community in Wiluna worked at the Wiluna Recreation Centre with artists-in-residence Martine Perret and Jonathan Mustard. The theme Different Voices' was explored using digital photography throughout the weeks and prompted participants to reflect on what Different Voices' means to them in their community. The artworks created in the process driven drop in sessions was entirely inspired by the culture, community, experiences and aspirations of the students and community creating it and there were certainly some spectacular results.

The final artworks were unveiled at a community celebration at the end of the two-week residency, where participants and community members were invited to enjoy the art works and share a morning tea.

AWESOME and the Creative Challenge Team are also excited that BHP, are back on board for another year as a proud supporter of the Creative Challenge program. They are instrumental in providing the opportunity for WA children to express themselves creatively. BHP Manager Community, Chris Cottier says, BHP is proud to support the 2018 Creative Challenge program as part of the AWESOME International Arts Festival for Bright Young Things. We know that high quality education and development opportunities for children can have a big impact on their future, and this partnership will help young people learn, express themselves and appreciate others through art'
