The AWESOME Arts Creative Challenge gets to travel to over 20 remote and regional schools throughout the year to deliver this amazing arts program. in 2018 we were able to work with students at CAPS Kurrawang to create an AWESOME mural project complete with projection and soundscape. The finished work was presented to parents, family, friends and teachers in the community at a barbecue lunch to celebrate the achievements of the students and spread the Go For 2 & 5 health message.
The AWESOME Arts 2018 Creative Challenge made a visit to CAPS Kurrawang at the end of August with new arts project, Different Voices'. The program is designed for remote and regional schools and is presented in partnership with Healthway promoting the Go for 2 & 5' health message to students and their wider community.

Over the one week residency, the young people at CAPS Kurrawang worked with artists-in-residence Angela Barnett and Roly Skender to explore the theme Different Voices' and what it means to them in their community. The mural artwork that was created by the students through this process incorporated projection, new media and soundscapes that reflected the culture, community, experiences and aspirations of the students creating it.

The mural was unveiled at a community celebration at the end of the week, where parents, family, teachers and community members were invited for a healthy barbecue lunch and to witness the unveiling of the students art work

AWESOME and the Creative Challenge Team are also excited that Healthway, are back on board for another year as a proud supporter of the Creative Challenge program. They are instrumental in providing the opportunity for WA children to express themselves creatively while helping to spread the Go for 2&5' health message. Healthway CEO, Susan Hunt PSM said, "The AWESOME Arts Creative Challenge will make sure the message about eating more fruit and vegetables every day reaches around 100,000 young people aged 17 years and younger, including at least 1,500 young people from remote communities."

Creative Challenge is AWESOME's year-round regional program that visits predominantly regional and remote communities in Western Australia, as well as running some select metropolitan residencies. The theme Different Voices' celebrates the young people living in Western Australia, asking them to explore their own voice and consider those voices around them. Each art work created is unique and inspired by the culture, experiences and aspirations of the students making it, reflecting on their sense of identity, community and place. Our highly-experienced team of artists specialise in facilitating skills-focused, process driven workshops.

In 2018 AWESOME has a team of forty artists from all over Australia including film makers, visual artists, sound designers, musicians, new media artists, dancers, photographers and theatre performers. Selected artworks and photographs from the program were also showcased at AWESOME's major annual event the AWESOME International Arts Festival for Bright Young Things in October.
