Courthouse ARTS have just announced the 2013 Young Curator: Stacey Williams!

BY Chelsea Hatherall | 04-Mar-2013
Every year Courthouse ARTS gives one lucky emerging curator the amazing opportunity of taking ownership of a creative space for 12 months. They can name it, brand it and fill it with all the creativity they can find!

Courthouse ARTS provides the space, the admin resources, marketing and mentoring support, we even arrange for the young curator to be mentored by Lisa Sullivan, Curator at the Geelong Gallery!

In 2012 Jenna Ramondo hit the ground running with the opportunity curating an abundant stream of illustrative inspired exhibits.

"I have enjoyed every minute as curator and have been lucky enough to meet so many amazing artists along the way. I look forward to still being a part of the Courthouse and all of the wonderful opportunities they provide for young local artists" – Jenna Ramondo (Curator, 2012)

“Jenna set the bar pretty high, turning the old Magistrates court into a mecca for exciting young contemporary art in Geelong. Her choices were exciting and fresh and we can’t wait to see what does next! Jenna is a founding member of the Geelong Illustrators, so we’re not losing her, which is great!” - Ross Mueller (Artistic Director, Courthouse ARTS)

In 2013 Stacey Williams will take the reins, bringing us a new wave of creative genius from the local shores of Geelong, and surrounding areas. Stacey has recently graduated from The Gordon in Graphic Arts, this year enrolling at the Academy of Design, Melbourne. Ms Williams is also an emerging artist and graphic designer.

The contract will run until the end of 2013. For anyone considering a career in curating this residency/mentorship is an opportunity too good to pass up! Stay tuned for upcoming exhibitions at Courthouse ARTS! Or... think you have something fabulous that needs to be shared to the masses?
