CONTINUUM – WARREN LANE BUNDOORA HOMESTEAD ART CENTRE EXHIBITION
Address: 7-27 Snake Gully Drive, Bundoora
Date: Friday 9 May to Sunday 13 July 2014
Time: Wednesday to Friday 11am-4pm, Saturday & Sunday 12noon-5pm
Darebin-based Lane's exhibition will feature works linked by the themes of human rights, the environment and local issues. This is Lane's first solo exhibition since 2012.
As a painter working predominantly in oils, Lane's artworks fall between Edward Hopper's detailed renderings of modern American life and Edward Ruscha's severely pared back service station paintings, with beautifully structured compositions and use of flattened colour planes.
Lane's astute illustrative portraits and urban landscapes are skilfully structured compositions that use a high degree of realism. His work is both thought provoking and humorous, inviting the viewer to contemplate the subject matter without pretension or distraction.
Lane completed a Diploma of Arts in Visual Arts with distinction in 2008 at NMIT. He has successfully exhibited in local and national art prizes including the Darebin Art Show (winner, 2008 and People's Choice award 2010 and 2011) the Casella Art Prize in NSW (winner, 2009) and the Bald Archys in NSW (winner, 2013).
Lane's work is represented in public and private collections in Australia and overseas.
Darebin Arts is proud to present CONTINUUM as part of the ongoing, vibrant visual art program set in the historic Bundoora Homestead Art Centre.
