Australian video artist Neil Howe’s new work titled Conspiracy has been selected for inclusion in NordArt 2013 at the Kunstwerk Carlshutte in Budelsdorf, Germany. Since 1999 NordArt has established itself as one of the largest exhibitions of contemporary art in Europe taking place annually during summer. NordArt is an overall work of art in its own right and is designed as such each year. More than 240 international artists, selected by jury, present a comprehensive panorama of contemporary art.
Each individual work not only speaks for itself but also creates new perspectives when seen juxtaposed against the unique backdrop offered by the Carlshütte and the adjacent historical sculpture park. http://www.kunstwerk-carlshuette.de/en/index.html
Conspiracy is a post-postmodern video artwork/experimental documentary eclectic by nature borrowing from the genres of electronic social media, documentary film making, painting and sound production. A group of primary school children tell stories of the conspiracy by corporations and governments to actively suppress the development of inventions that would enable the creation of limitless, non polluting, virtually free energy to power homes, cities and modes of transport.
The children equate the behavior of these adults involved in the suppression, to cause and effect during their child development phase, for example, they are greedy and mean because they did not get enough love when they were children. The children’s plea is to end this suppression and thus create a better future for all peoples of all ages. Conspiracy is a social realist artwork that makes comment on contemporary society by utilizing and repurposing social network media. http://vimeo.com/51418690
The exhibition opens on June 8th, 2013 and runs until October, 6th 2013 at the Kunstwerk Carlshutte in Budelsdorf, Germany near Hamburg.
