Consequences

BY Jenny Reddin | 01-Jun-2015
Chaos theory has it that butterfly wings fluttering on one side of the world results in catastrophe on the other. A flutter for a hurricane. Jenny Reddin's work is the consequence of the alchemy of pigment and medium. These large scale works demonstrate the ripple effect of even the smallest act leading to an enormous outcome. The works are intentionally reflective so that the viewer is captured in the work as they move through the exhibition, through the process, through the consequences.

Chaos theory has it that butterfly wings fluttering on one side of the world results in catastrophe on the other. A flutter for a hurricane.

Yet since the dawn of humanity, we have ignored the concept of cause and effect; of consequences. Is it in the name of advancement, progress, vanity, profit, or ignorance? Regardless of the motivation, consequences can be devastating for our environment, communities and for the living creatures within it.

The intention of this series is to provoke and challenge the viewer, as they become absorbed in the art - the consequence of the alchemy of pigment and medium. These large scale works demonstrate the ripple effect of even the smallest act leading to an enormous outcome. The works are intentionally reflective so that the viewer is captured in the work as they move through the exhibition, through the process, through the consequences.
