Mark Hanham is a talented, versatile, and successful artist with a huge personality. He is enthusiastic, passionate and prolific. Mark’s style, essentially Contemporary Figurative, is large, brash, pop, and exquisitely beautiful. His works provoke vivid impressions of movement and freshness. Mark is especially known for his streetscapes and iconic city overviews that capture one’s attention with a strong focus on abstracted line and form and carry just enough detail to anchor the image. Mark’s large scale paintings are represented already in international, national and corporate collections.
He was a finalist in the 2003 Sulman Prize - Art Gallery of New South Wales, winner of the People’s Choice in the inaugural Paddington Art Prize 2004, as well as the Kings Cross Art Competition in both 2002 and 2003. After gaining his Masters in Art in 2004, he has exhibited with: Marlene Antico Fine Arts, Andrew Crawford Gallery, Shapiro Gallery, Art Index, Christopher Day Gallery and Mary Place Gallery. His record at auction is impressive and he is renowned for creating a storm at Art Sydney and Art Melbourne. He decided to go against convention in 2011 and establish his own gallery in the heart of Crown Street,`Surry Hills, Sydney.
This move changes the very nature of artist representation and is proving to be a great success. The Mark Hanham Gallery is a unique concept in Sydney, where Mark regularly changes his work to reflect different cityscapes, such as New York, London, Paris and Venice, as well a vast variety of subjects that capture his imagination.
The Gallery is open daily and detailed information about the artist and his work can be found on the Gallery website: www.markhanham.com
