Collarts announces first online-only course with new Bachelor and Diploma degrees in Animation & VFX + appoints Simon Ashford as Head

Collarts is incredibly proud and excited to announce the commencement of its brand new Animation & VFX course in 2019, launching in collaboration with online digital art and animation college CG Spectrum.
Celebrating a commitment to the entertainment and creative industries, this past year has seen Collarts broaden their scope of course offerings with additional degrees in Fashion Marketing, Content Creation and Interior Design, as well as opening a brand new main campus in the heart of Collingwood. Now, the creative arts and design giant is thrilled to be taking enrolments for their first online-only course with the Bachelor / Diploma of Animation & VFX, lead by internationally accomplished graphic designer Simon Ashford.

Ideal for those who wish to establish a professional animation and visual effects career in the film, television, online entertainment, or gaming industry, the Animation and VFX online course equips students with an in-depth understanding of the digital arts through Collarts' and CG Spectrum's expert mentorship opportunities, real-world business experiences, and access to invaluable industry connections. In addition to the flexibility of online study, Animation and VFX students will have complete access to Collarts' state-of-the-art campus facilities as well as opportunities for one-on-one industry mentorship from CG Spectrum professionals and Animation & VFX Head, Simon Ashford.

Originally from the UK, Simon Ashford began his creative practice in film animation in London working for industry luminary Richard Williams (Roger Rabbit) on his magnum opus The Thief and the Cobbler' for Warner Brothers. After finishing up with Williams, Simon went on to contribute to such projects as Steven Spielberg's Balto', The Tales of Beatrix Potter' and The Silver Brumby' for Media World & Animation Works, and was at the forefront of animation applications in 3D games art with Beam Software / Infogrames (Atari), working on Space Race' for Warner Brothers amongst a number of other 3D game projects. With a wealth of industry expertise, as well as experience in the educational sector as an academic leader and as an accredited Strengths Coach helping emerging creative designers reach their full potential; Simon Ashford is looking forward to beginning his role at Collarts as the Head of Animation & VFX.
