Drama With A Difference is one of Australia's leading, independent drama schools. With a history that spans more than twenty years, we are the launching pad of many successful actors, the bulk of whom began with us as young people. Our students have appeared in lead roles and major guests roles in feature films, just about every Australian TV series in the past twenty years, endless commercials and professional theatre productions. For a list of our achievements in the profession itself, please visit our comprehensive website.

Although an ideal school for aspiring actors, Drama With A Difference is deeply committed to providing drama classes for all young people - regardless of whether they wish to become actors or not. Many young people come to overcome shyness, increase self-esteem. make new friends or just to have fun!

In a world that is increasingly demanding for young people, drama classes provide a great sense of stress-release. Our classes are run in a non-competitive, nurturing environment and the focus is on personal best. This Monday class is quite established but students are always welcoming of new-comers and you don't have to have any experience to join.

Most students stay for at least a year (although there is no obligation to do so) and many stay for several years! If you do continue throughout the year, you will have the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience later in the year. We do not cast big and small roles and endeavour to give each student more or less equal time on stage. This is done by choosing either a group of short plays, or doubling up the larger roles in full-length plays.

One major advantage for young people in attending drama classes, is learning the ability to speak in front of other people. Upfront presentations are now being required in later school years, at universities, TAFE colleges and in the workplace. Many students come back to us as adults, and remark on the invaluable tools they were given by us in this respect - regardless of what career path they undertake.

Students will learn
- the skills of improvisation (thinking on your feet, and coming up with your own ideas
- character work (creating someone very different from yourself)
- movement (not dance as such, but learning how to move as other characters)
- voice work (incorporated naturally into the class, via the exercises given)
and a host of other life skills.
