Chelsea Wilson is back with her highly anticipated second album Chasing Gold out Friday 15 March via House of Valerie Joan.
The album is her first long play release since 2014's I Hope You'll Be Very Unhappy Without Me, which was named #2 Album of the Year on ABC Radio National and nominated for Best Soul Album at The Age Music Victoria Awards 2014.

To celebrate the release of Chasing Gold, Wilson will transform Brunswick's Howler on Friday 12th April into a Studio 54-esque haven, complete with lights, sequins, and disco jams for the party of the year, backed by her eight-piece band plus special guests DJ's and more to be announced.

Produced by ARIA nominated composer/ bassist Ross McHenry (The Shaolin Afronauts), Chasing Gold sees Chelsea move away from her previous sound and move into rare-groove territory, fusing her love of early disco, epic pop and jazz. Continuing her evolution as an artist, add into the mix an impressive list of local musical collaborators and co-writers including Andy Boyle, Audrey Powne and Adam Rudegeair. The album also features lush string orchestration arranged by Ross Irwin (The Bamboos) and backing vocals by Jason Heerah and Thando Sikwila.

The album's opener 'Real Love' is a sweeping rare groove love odyssey, that has garnered international airplay including spins on BBC, Delite Radio, Starpoint, Mi-Soul and Jazz FM in the UK, hitting #12 on the UK Soul Chart. Second single 'Breaking Down' is a deeply personal song about an abusive domestic relationship and sees Chelsea at her most heartfelt expressing her life challenges and triumphs through music. Other feature tracks 'Give You Up'"¨is a heady disco track about an insatiable sexual relationship and, 'Nothing Can Come Between This Love Tonight' is dedicated to the survivors of the 'Pulse' night club Orlando massacre of 2016, celebrating equal love and LGBTIQA+ rights.

Behind the scenes, Chelsea Wilson is the Artistic Director of Stonnington Jazz Festival, Deputy Chair of Music Victoria, is a regular Broadcaster for Mi-Soul Connoisseurs London and PBS 106.7FM in Melbourne. She has curated the 'Women of Soul' series featuring artists such as Kylie Auldist, Mojo Juju and Stella Angelico since 2011. And, at the beginning of 2019 she appeared as a speaker at The Lincoln Centre New York for Jazz Congress.

Having recently reimagined her live show with a string quartet for a one-off performance at Melbourne Recital Centre, Chelsea has also graced the stage at the coveted Glastonbury Festival, played a sold out show at London's famous Jazz Café, headlined the Arts Centre Melbourne stage at the Australasian World Music Expo, opened for Macy Gray at the Atheneaum Theatre, and performed at the sold out Bad Girls Disco with Renee Geyer and Kylie Auldist at Melbourne Music week 2018. As a she DJ has supported Booker T, Neneh Cherry, Tina Arena, Hiatus Kaiyote and Cookin' on 3 Burners, just to name a few.

Known for her flamboyant performances, Chelsea Wilson sure knows how to put on a show, so, frock up, put on your dancing shoes and get ready to sing and party your night away in true style.
