Celebrate with Teeling Whiskey this St Patrick's Day

Published by: Fuller PR | 21-Feb-2016
Once the most popular spirit in the world, Irish whiskey has recently had a huge resurgence both in the Emerald Isle and globally. So much that it is now the fastest growing spirit category in the world (TheIWSR.com). The dynamic Teeling Whiskey is a young, multi award-winning, unconventionally independent whiskey producer with deep Dublin roots. @TeelingWhiskey #TeelingWhiskeyCompany @teeling_whiskey

In just three years, Teeling has grown to be available in 46 countries, with their entire range launching in Australia in 2015 and the new limited edition, The Revival 15 Year Old Single Malt, becoming available in time for St Patrick's Day 2016.

Just this month, Teeling won four accolades at the first stage of the 2016 World Whiskies Awards, and is up for the coveted global title of World's Best Single Malt Whiskey. Teeling is also shortlisted for a 2016 business award from the prestigious Financial Times. Winners for both awards will be announced on 16 March.

Teeling's Asia-Pacific Brand Ambassador and Dublin native, Martin Lynch, has helped Teeling grow to become available in Australia at Dan Murphy's, BWS and good independent liquor stores. Since 2015, Teeling is also available in bars, including some of the country's top cocktail establishments.

"As an Irishman and whiskey enthusiast, it really is a dream job to be representing such a unique Dublin brand here in Australia. The Teeling brothers have been working extremely hard and we have already won some brilliant awards. Since launching, it's been great to see the fantastic response to the whiskey from Australian consumers and trade," says Martin.

While Teeling Whiskey may sound like a new kid on the block to those unfamiliar with the brand, the family owned and operated company has a 230 year old history that dates back to 1782 when a young man named Walter Teeling set up a craft distillery in the heart of Dublin.

After hard times brought a sharp fall in the Irish whiskey industry, distilleries in Dublin shut up shop with the final stills running cold in 1976.

Fast forward to 2012 when Jack Teeling decided to carry on his family legacy by joining forces with his brother, Stephen Teeling. In 2015 they opened the first new distillery in Dublin in 125 years. The Revival 15 Year Old Single Malt was produced to mark this momentous event.

Teeling Whiskey is as authentic as you can get - it's now the only distillery in the heart of Dublin, having opened just down the road from where Walter once perfected his craft on Marrowbone Lane. The company has a reputation for honest values that centre on family and a genuine passion for the craft.

Both honouring tradition and leading innovation, Teeling offers a selection of unique, handcrafted small batch whiskeys that, unlike other Irish whiskeys, lend themselves well to mixology. Teeling encourages bartenders using their whiskey to be creative, and have developed a number of creative whiskey cocktails themselves.

Some of Teeling's most inspired recipes include the Teeling Rosemary Hot Whiskey cocktail, which combines Teeling Single Malt with rosemary, lemon, honey and star anise to create the perfect brew for the colder months. Try Teeling's unique take on a traditional Irish coffee by adding Teeling Single Malt and organic orange infused fresh cream, or pay homage to Irish slaves with 'The Redleg Rebellion,' a fierce concoction of Teeling Small Batch, Clement Creole Shrubb, Taylor's Velvent Falernum, pineapple and lime.

Teeling are celebrating St Patrick's Day (Thursday 17 March) in Australia this year with a decadent event in Melbourne, kicking off celebrations early at the St Patrick's Day Eve Party at Bar 1806 in Melbourne on 16 March.

Teeling Whiskey will surely be the drink of choice for patrons wishing to ditch the pints and celebrate St Patrick's Day with sophistication this year.

"In the glass, the whiskey has that straw yellow color that bespeaks of Irish whiskey character. The nose is something like an apple pie with rum thrown in for seasoning: sweet, fruity, lightly spicy. A tinge of piney wood imparts a crisp, bracing aspect to the scent."
- Richard Thomas, The Whiskey Reviewer

"And so, the small batch Teeling was delicious in all the ways that Irish whiskey can be. It's slightly stronger bite will probably make it more respectable with the tough-guy crowd, but with only a splash of seltzer it opens up into a sweet embrace of your whole mouth. It made me feel like I felt that first night in Dublin"
- Matthew Rohrer, The Wall Street Journal
