'You & I' will headline and launch this superb line-up from the 22nd of January, 2019.
An empowering hour of skill using high level acrobatics, magical trapeze, and dance, 'You & I' is a celebration of identity and the loving relationship between two men. Casus Circus' most daring and intimate work to-date, 'You & I' is an unashamedly authentic journey revealing a fresh narrative where gay stories are not consumed by tragedy, but filled with conviction and acceptance.
“A major catalyst for creating 'You & I' was the desire to tell a story of two men in love, without the usual baggage.”, explains co-Director and Performer Jesse Scott.
“Lachlan and I both saw gay characters in most main stream movies or television representations being full of trauma and heartache. This show is full of our truth and love. 'You & I' is an action packed show complete with circus, dance and honesty. We’ve created a show that lets you forget the fact it’s about two men in love, and simply focus on two people in love.”
A recognised leader in contemporary circus, Casus Circus performances are rich in human connection, cultural diversity and precise, intelligent choreography. Renowned for their aesthetic, they have toured nationally and internationally with their works and have won numerous awards and accolades. Originating in Brisbane through co-founders Jesse Scott, Lachlan McAulay, and Natano Fa’anana, You & I will be their Midsumma Festival debut season, not to be missed!
This performance is proudly supported by Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and The Gasworks Foundation Patrons Fund.
