Artist submissions are now open for the prestigious $50,000 Black Swan Prize for Portraiture, which this year is celebrating ten years of attracting the highest calibre artists from across Australia to enter WA's only portrait prize. ARTrinsic Inc, the creators and organisers of the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture, is proud to announce an exciting partnership with the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) as part of its ten-year celebrations. The finalist portraiture works will be on public display at WA's State Art Gallery. The Black Swan Prize for Portraiture will be the signature event of AGWA's Portraiture Month from Saturday 8 "“ Monday 31 October 2016. AGWA Director Stefano Carboni said he was looking forward to seeing the works exhibited at the Gallery. Each year, the Prize has grown in popularity and stature, and I look forward to viewing the entries for this year's Award."

Each year the number of entries grows and we cannot wait to see what the 2016 artists works will bring us".

More than 400 artists are expected to enter the competition this year, all vying for the $50,000 first prize donated by The Lester Group, and the $7,500 People's Choice Award. The Lester Group have been sponsoring the main prize since the event's inception in 2007 and are delighted to again be associated with the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture in its 10th year.

Submission by artists closes on Friday 22 July 5pm WST.

Artists are invited to submit portraits of an Australian, or Australians that they respect or admire. A full list of terms and artists conditions is available via www.blackswanprize.com.au. The 30-40 finalists will be announced on Friday 5 August 2016, with the main winner announced at a special Award Night on Friday 14 October 2016.

Another new initiative this year will be a printed visual display of the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture Youth Awards in the Perth Cultural Centre from Saturday 15 October 2016, along with the original Youth artworks being showcased at Brookfield Place "“ 125 St Georges Terrace, Perth from Monday 3 October 2016 for three weeks in conjunction with the Salon des Refusés.

A variety of community workshops, guided tours and floor talks will be available for the public to participate in during the exhibition at AGWA.
