Board Game Fun with AWESOME Arts and Djidi Djidi Primary School!
Djidi Djidi Primary School students got creative with AWESOME Arts Creative Challenge program, I Hear You, creating a life sized board game with artists Calvin Chee and Hannan Jones.

From 21 to 25 August 2017, the young people of Bunbury worked with artists-in-residence Calvin Chee and Hannan Jones to explore a variety of places and/or ideas that are central to their wellbeing and particularly the wellbeing of those around them. Each artwork was entirely inspired by the culture, community, experiences and aspirations of the children within it, with the artists facilitating skills-focused, process-driven workshops.
Artist Hannan Jones said, "During our week we invested our time into the creation of a life size board game. This allowed us to share many types of visual art tools and techniques - exploring story making, designing, sculpting and playing! We are both hands-on practitioners and were so excited to help the children to work with both 2-D and 3-D creations.
Wetaught the children a number of different skill sets and methods such as fabric dying, as well as designing and building cane sculptures for large scale pieces. Calvin and I collaborated with the students on what they'd like to get out of the residency, so the outcome was entirely driven by them!"
Bunbury Creative Challenge is presented by "Go for 2 & 5", which means the message of healthy eating will be explored with students throughout the residency.

The final artworks will be unveiled at a celebration at the end of the residency, where parents, teachers and community members will be invited to view and experience some of the artworks created.
Selected artworks or photographs will also be showcased at an exhibition in Perth in January 2018.
Creative Challenge is AWESOME"s year-round regional program that visits multiple regional and remote communities in Western Australia, in addition to select metropolitan residencies. Seed was devised by AWESOME and will be delivered to the communities by a team of professional artists from all over Australia, including film makers, visual artists, sound designers, musicians, new media artists, dancers, photographers and theatre performers.
