In Precipice for a New Day, Samantha Semmens explores the idea of groundlessness in relation to our disconnect in an increasingly virtual world. Ceramic forms, rocky terrain, mountains and caves, act alongside torsos and heads of cast figures that resemble weathered statues from an ancient past.' In so doing, the works engage with a time when open dialogue and shared ritual were the means to make sense of experience.' Through the exchange between forms, Semmens reflects upon the possibilities of groundlessness.

Following this, Wendy Busch presents an alternate living scenario in One Size Fits All: Unusable Furniture. Using industrial building materials, Busch has created a range of unusable furniture pieces that reflect aspects of the built environment. The dysfunctional quality of these sculptures is in turn furthered by their placement within the confines of the gallery space; a space foreign to the purposes of living. The alien living room presents a façade of comfort, fitting in and the correct' way of living' says Busch. Stemming from present issues surrounding Australia's treatment of minority groups, Busch's work comments on the power of the privileged in the fortunes of others.

Matt Vaughan presents his latest response to place in 3181, which documents the suburbs of Melbourne. Culminating in a series of paintings, 3181 is based on Vaughan's experience and reaction to the design and architecture of Windsor through the process of walking, observing, and collecting. The materials gathered- be they stories, faces or conversations heard- guide the direction of each work back in the solitude of the artist's studio. Taking place in Gallery Three and The Cupboard, Vaughan translates a memory of time and place via energetic and haptic marks.

Jenny Huang's exhibition Within explores body performance as a source of self-reflection. Huang looks to challenge conventional presentations of women through the dialogue of photography. The images capture the physical and psychological traits of the body, while revealing the inner predicaments of the artist in the display of her own representation.

All exhibitions will be open until 5 May 2018.

On the final day of the exhibition (5 May) we're hosting Linden New Art for their Artist Speakeasy > Surviving as an Independent Artist 11am to 12.30pm. Join us, everyone is welcome!
