Memories and the history of the Solitary Islands Marine Park are to be shared through stories, music, poetry and art in the tranquil heritage gardens of Coffs Harbour Regional Museum on Sunday August 13.

Award-winning poet and ABC Radio National regular John Bennett will share his poems, the band "60% Water" will provide the music and renowned Gumbaynggirr artist Uncle Tony Hart will host art workshops at the Arts in the Garden event.

There will also be opportunities to take part in printmaking workshops and listen to stories told by members of the Solitary Islands Marine Park Oral History Project.

"60% Water" will perform a series of original songs especially written for Arts in the Garden which are all based around stories about the Solitary Islands, their unique environment and Captain Cook"s impressions and descriptions on his original 18th century voyage of discovery.

The aim of the event is to celebrate the Solitary Islands Marine Park and its 75 kilometres of coast, reefs, estuaries, islands and diverse marine life.

Entry is free. Bring your own picnic rug or chairs and enjoy a barbecue, drinks and afternoon tea in the Museum"s award-winning gardens. Arts in the Garden will run from 12noon until 4pm.
