Calling all Victorian artists of avant-garde, blues, country, electronic, experimental, folk, funk, global, gospel, heavy, hip hop, indigenous, jazz, pop, reggae, rock, roots and soul music. Submissions are now open for The Age Music Victoria Awards 2016! @musicvictoria #theagemusicvictoriaawards
"We think that true hard work and being active and consistent in an ever-changing musical landscape should be acknowledged and rewarded. Though our music is universal, international and appealing to a wide demographic, it's still considered a niche genre that gets pigeon-holed way too easily. Winning an award like this validates the massive effort that goes into keeping a band afloat, especially with a band our size. It has inspired us to dig deeper with our creativity and stay on top of our game." Nicky Bomba - Melbourne Ska Orchestra

Whilst nominees in the categories of Rock and Pop, Best Festival, Best Small Venue, Best Regional Venue and Best Large Venue are selected by the Judges, this year, The Awards have extended to consider submissions.

The guidelines are simple:

If you're an artist that is Victorian based or living in Victoria for the last two years and you've released an EP or album between 1st October 2015 and 31 August 2016, you are eligible.

"The best thing about being nominated or winning an TAMVA award is that it validates all your hard work. It's so easy to feel obscure in today's saturated music industry, so outlets and awards for high quality music in genres that may be overlooked by the mainstream machine are super important. They can put some real weight behind your band name and give you the drive and self-belief to take it to the next level. That's certainly what the TAMVAs did for us"¦ So get on it and good luck! Luke Sinclair - Raised by Eagles

The Age Music Victoria Awards celebrate its 11th year with a huge line-up of Victoria's best talent at 170 Russell on Wednesday 16 November, during Melbourne Music Week program. Co-presented by Triple R 102.7FM and PBS 106.7FM, The After Party opens to the general public from 8.30pm.

Submissions are open now until 31 August 2016 and nominees will be announced Friday 7 October.
