Working primarily with painting, Kim Wilson’s practice moves between realism and surrealism as she explores the beauty of nature and the impact of mankind in her inaugural exhibition.

Kim’s work is deeply imbued with her love of and intense desire to preserve our natural habitat. Heavily influenced by her travels, her art is saturated with a desire to present sublime imagery of our delicate natural environment.

“I love the way no matter how hard you try you cannot make up the achingly delicate changes, from species to species, of trees’ says Wilson.

“The seemingly random angles and arcs that speak of genealogy, environment and of primal beauty. The mess of sticks that are simultaneously scribble and perfection”.

Kim Wilsons artworks are often snippets of a scene, regardless of the dimensions of the canvas. Intrigued by the intimate detail and minutiae that nature has to offer she finds beauty in the quiet mess of things that are often overlooked in favour of the grand display.

The exhibition is showing from 23rd September – 15th October 2022 at Mitchell Fine Art in Arthur St, Fortitude Valley Brisbane.

An exhibition opening will be held on Friday 23rd September, from 6 - 8pm with Kim Wilson in attendance.

On Saturday 24th September from 11am Kim Wilson will hold an Artist Talk in the Gallery. All events are free and rsvp’s are not required.

Mitchell Fine Art is open 6 days a week; Monday to Friday 10am - 5.30pm and Saturday 10am - 5pm, with parking available onsite.
