The Metropolitan Orchestra"s (TMO) Cushion Concerts return to Balmain Town Hall on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of May. Hear birds singing, lions roaring, elephants stomping, Kangaroos bouncing and even an unhappy Aardvark, all played by the orchestra! With excerpts from Tchaikovsky"s Swan Lake, Saint-Saëns" Carnival of the Animals, Rimsky-Korsakov"s Flight of the Bumblebee, Bach"s Sheep May Safely Graze and more, there"s something for all family members in this fun concert that will ignite little imaginations as they explore the orchestra in an energised kid-friendly atmosphere.

Presented by animated actor Nat Jobe and conducted by Australian Icon musician and entertainer Bernard Walz, each concert will engage and encourage young audiences to get up close and personal with the musicians in each highly interactive performance. Kids and families are encouraged to bring cushions and rugs to any one of the four casual morning or early afternoon sessions.

Designed by Artistic Director Sarah-Grace Williams who was previously the Artistic Director of the now defunct Sydney Opera House Babies Proms, The Metropolitan Orchestra"s Family Cushion Concert series invites young audiences and their families to get close to each of the instruments of the orchestra in these fun kid-focussed concerts. Each short concert (performed without interval) in the morning and early afternoon will ensure kids and parents can see, hear, engage and enjoy all of the music and musicians of the orchestra.
