Recorded by Andrew 'Idge' Hehir at Soundpark and mixed by Jez Giddings at Hothouse Studio, 'Hopeful' is a dramatic tale of courtship and doubt set to a vintage soul strut.

Having last appeared with 2014's stripped back Sing, Strum & Strut EP, this new offering is painted on a much broader canvas. Featuring members of the Melbourne funk/soul institution The Cactus Channel, 'Hopeful' tips it's hat to 1960's R&B, peppering its groove with wah-wah sitar and a wash of backing vocals.

Alex Watts will celebrate the release of 'Hopeful' with a month long residency at The Grace Darling Hotel, Wednesdays in May.

'Hopeful' is out on Astound Records April 15th, available to purchase via ITunes.
