Adelaide Airport Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures - Entries close October 30th

BY ART NEWS PORTAL | 29-Oct-2012
The Adelaide Airport Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures Exhibition will be run from Wednesday 23rd January to Sunday 3rd February 2013 at Brighton Surf Life Saving Club, Esplanade, Brighton, South Australia.

The event was inspired by Brighton Surf Life Saving members after experiencing sculptures at Cottesloe Beach WA, the latter event modeled on the famous Bondi Sculptures by the Sea.

Our vision is to continue to hold a major arts event concluding with the successful annual 7 Brighton Jetty Classic Swim. The combination of both arts and sport is a unique and successful community event.

Sculptures large and small for outdoor and indoor display will be made from multi media compositions i.e. wood, wire, glass, metals, stone, clay, plastics, cement etc.

While continuing with the successful exhibition of indoor sculptures, we have in recent years increased the prize money for large outdoor sculptures including a Sculptures Walk along the Esplanade at Brighton beach.

Artists are invited to enter their sculpture in what will be both an exhibition and a competition. A judging panel will award cash prizes for the following categories:

  • Outdoor Sculpture: $5000
  • Indoor Sculpture: $3000
  • Young Artist (15-26 years): $1000
  • People's Choice: $1000
  • Environmental Awareness: $1000
  • Emerging Artist: $1000
  • Outdoor Runner up: $2000
  • Indoor Runner up: $1000
  • People's Choice Runner up: $500

A commission of 30% from the sale of each sculpture will be retained by the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club. It is anticipated that submitting artists will be mindful of this when setting a price for their sculpture.
