Hayden Dun & Natasha Pearson are proud to present this collection of songs from Ace of Hearts; the musical about asexuality, as part of this year’s Midsumma Festival in April 2021. Ace of Hearts is a queer comedy musical about the pressure society places on young adults to find their other half, with a central message of inclusion and belonging. This performance presents songs from the musical with Hayden Dun on keys, and Natasha Pearson on vocals at Bluestone Church Arts Space in Footscray, VIC.

The performance follows a young woman's discovery that she is Asexual and the implications it has on her friendships, family and dating life. Exploring themes of coming out and growing up queer, there are also songs about discovery such as ‘Cake’ and ‘Aro or Romantic,’ along with comedy numbers such as ‘Online Dating.’

"Catchy, well-written... beautifully performed" — Weekend Notes

Heteronormativity has the potential to impact harmfully on the lives and mental wellbeing of people who identify as queer or asexual. We hope this performance contributes to raising awareness and increasing visibility of this aspect of the LGBTIQIA+ umbrella.

Ace of Hearts was first produced as part of PRONTO by MUST and also featured in the MUST Cabaret Festival in 2018. The musical premiered as part of the Midsumma Festival in 2019.
