The artwork within the building responds to distinct architectural elements, revealing industrial features which have been witness to the social and cultural histories of the area. A strong focus is the concrete pipes manufactured at the site. Abate draws parallels between these pipes, both as a supportive architectural element hidden within the built infrastructure of Melbourne as a metaphor for the West"s forgotten figures and marginalised stories worked in the various industries documented in the archives at the Living Museum of the West and beyond.

These histories are translated as a kind of soft infrastructure through a range of performances curated by Abate. These include a site-specific performance by poet and dancer Adolfo Aranjuez, A facilitated chat with Sexuality and Pleasure Educator Euphemia Russell, from I Wish You Knew. The conversations will bring together personal sexuality and gender reflections around what we wish: our younger selves, lovers and future lovers, loved ones, and our larger worlds knew.
