A Night at the Rock Opera
Music legends from all over the country are looking for ways to get involved with YWCA NSW’s A Night At The Rock Opera, resulting in five sensational new performers joining an already stellar line-up raising money and awareness for YWCA NSW’s mentoring and leadership programs for disadvantaged children including Big Brothers Big SistersTM. Jon Stevens, Robyn Loau, Trevor Ashley, Chris Ninni and Brydon Stace today were announced as new musical acts set to rock the stage at The State Theatre in November. Australian music legend, Jon Stevens, joins his friends on the stage and is thrilled to be supporting a great cause doing what he does best. Stevens has played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, was the lead singer of Noiseworks and also fronted INXS. 2011 saw Stevens continue his successful entertainment career with the release of two solo albums Changing Times & Testify.
Robyn Loau is best known as the lead singer of 90’s pop group, Girlfriend, who topped the ARIA Singles Chart with Take It From Me. An all-round performer, Loau has also played the lead role in the feature film Idiot Box, which debuted in the top 10 at the Australian Box Office. Sydney-based performer and drag artist Trevor Ashley comes with a list of musical theatre credentials as long as his arm, including; playing Miss Understanding in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Edna Turnbland in Hairspray and Natalia Portly in Fat Swan. He has toured his show “Trevor The Arena Mega Musical” to New York and London, and co-created the show Pop Princess.
Chris Ninni from the Nine Network juggernaut The Voice and former lead vocalist in Broadway show Burn The Floor is also on board. Chris has also successfully embraced a career as a session singer, show band entertainer and theatrical performer. Brydon Stace is also a regular on the stage, having performed with INXS, playing Doody in Grease the Arena Spectacular and receiving critical acclaim as the lead singer recreating Meatloaf’s “BAT OUT OF HELL”. These legendary performers join an impressive line-up, including Bobby Fox, Carmen Smith, Casey Donovan, Christa Hughes, Christine Anu, Darren Percival, Dave Faulkner, Glenn Cunningham, Jeff Duff, John Waters, Mark Gable, Paul Capsis, Steve Balbi and more. With hit songs like Time Warp from Rocky Horror Picture Show, Oh What A Night – December 1963 from Jersey Boys, Peggy Sue from Buddy Holly, You’re the One That I Want from Grease, Superstar and I Don’t Know How To Love Him from Jesus Christ Superstar, Aquarius from Hair, Pinball Wizard from Tommy, Another Brick in the Wall from The Wall and many more, A Night At The Rock Opera is one not to be missed!
