A Lifetime of Stories // IRISH FILM FESTIVAL SYDNEY

Published by: Aidan Mc Laughlin | 23-Apr-2019
Sydney's Irish Film Festival in 2019 is featuring the film 'A Lifetime of Stories', which depicts the personal stories of older Irish members in the Sydney community.
A Lifetime of Stories features a group of Irish seniors coming together to discuss their own incredible experiences in their own words. In a heart-warming combination of humour, style and wisdom, these 5 older emigrants from the Irish community in Sydney are here to share some amazing stories as they reflect on their lives. They spread their personal stories on what's been changing in Australia's landscape and environment, and the lives of all migrants who have made a new start in Australia. The documentary A Lifetime of Stories reminds the audience of the hidden adventures and tales embedded around them as living memories in their everyday lives, amongst both the young and old. It takes the audience on a life journey from the Derry's Bloody Sunday in 1972 to sailing around Ireland.

The film is a workshop-based video production project which gathered a group of Irish seniors to bring their past experiences to the screens as fascinating and entertaining stories. The Irish Seniors Video Project is a collaboration between Irish Screen Projects, the Irish Support Agency and the Irish National Association. Some of the Sydney locals featured are Tomás de Bhaldraithe, Pat Foley, Marian Reilly, Marie MacMillan and Damien McCluskey.
