Boroondara Arts' final exhibition for 2020 is A Family Album. Through painting, photography, textiles and video works, the featured artists illustrate the myriad experiences that bring families together and pull them apart, creating a collage of contemporary Australian communities. This is particularly poignant in a year the coronavirus pandemic has tested the very fabric of our society. Saturday 31 October “ Sunday 13 December 2020 at Town Hall Gallery and online at boroondara.vic.gov.au/arts
Venue: Town Hall Gallery
Address: 360 Burwood Road, Hawthorn

Featuring cross-generational family units, landscapes and cultures, this exhibition reveals the love, pain, joy and shared environments that render these bonds significant. Tender, contemplative and humorous, A Family Album invites audiences on an emotional journey that illuminates the human comfort we seek in each other, through the families we have and the families we create.

The exhibiting artists include: Donna Bailey, Julie Dowling, Hannah Gartside, Pia Johnson, Hoang Tran Nguyen and Selina Ou, all presenting poignant insights into a number of families (their own and others) through their artwork. Using various forms of storytelling, each artist references the innate human need for community and connection, which has been significantly compromised during the pandemic.
