BY Michele Lansdown | 28-Sep-2013
St George Theatre Company presents a performance by the renowned classical quintet - Quintessential
Three members of the Quintet

Quintessential is made up of five amazing musicians with a passion for chamber music, namely Jacinta Mikus on Flute, Rachel Tolmie on Oboe, Greg Jones on Clarinet, Niki Mortimer on Bassoon and Annalisa Solinas on Horn. Quintessential was formed to provide an opportunity for audiences to experience a different type of classical music in Sydney. With chamber music concerts thin on the ground Quintessential has a vast repertoire under their belts so choosing the program for this concert wasn’t easy! Each member has a say in which pieces get performed and majority rules. “ We are all very excited about this particular program which covers a large period of music” says clarinettist Greg Jones.

“The concert starts with an arrangement of Mozart’s popular ‘The Magic Flute Overture’, followed by a transcription of a Haydn’s String Quartet and Gershwin’s ‘I Got Rhythm’. The performance will also include an introduction to some beautiful new works including Nagata’s ‘Sonatine’ and Arnold’s ‘Three Shanties’. This is a concert for those who love to hear quality classical music without the hassle of travelling into the city. There’s plenty of parking, drinks are available at the bar, so sit back, relax and enjoy!
