This year Edith Cowlishaw turns 99 and to celebrate the birth of this beloved artist, we are holding an exhibition that acknowledges the huge contribution her work has made to our cultural life, and the memories that she’s captured inside the work.

99, Not Out! is a celebration of a life and memories in print.
“This one tree was covered in dew drops and the sun was shining, and oh! It was a magic moment.”
On a sunny February afternoon this year, our curator Madeleine Tuckfield-Carrano visited Edith’s studio in East Lindfield to deep dive into her life time collection of work and artist proofs. Together, they have collaborated on 99, Not Out! and all are invited to enjoy a high-tea exhibition opening on Sunday 13 November 2022.
“This one…the president of Greenpeace bought this print back in the 30’s. He had come out to Australia and came to an exhibition I had in Katoomba. Whilst he was there, I invited him to an antiques chocolate shop across the road, but he had a girl with him, so I invited her as well. He then turned to the girl and said, by the way what’s your name? I laughed, and have never forgotten it.”
