5 Hidden Screening Gems of Melbourne

Published by: Melbourne WebFest | 10-Jan-2017
In 2017, Melbourne WebFest will be moving to a new venue. It is an unlikely place to screen series but Melbourne has always been a little out of the ordinary. With its hidden lane ways and abundance of pop up stores, Melbourne would not be complete without a few intriguing screening venues. To announce our new festival venue, we have compiled our top picks of unusual places to watch a big screen in Melbourne.

Cameo Outdoor Cinema

Whilst patrons relax on an array of bean bags and fold out chairs, this breezy venue sets up over the summer to screen an array of popular new films. Cameo is an annual and fully-licensed outdoor cinema based in Belgrave, which starting this year, will showcase screening events that are friendly to mans' best friend. The dog-friendly "bring your pet" events will captivate the whole family with themed flicks such as Red Dog: True Blue and A Dog"s Purpose.

Loop Project Space & Bar

Located down a neat little alleyway in Melbourne's CBD, Loop Project Space and Bar gives the public access to an ever-changing array of viewing experiences.

The licensed venue will allow you to immerse yourself in screenings, audio visual performances and creative events, all with a cheeky beverage in tote. Alternatively, the cosy settings can be reserved for showing off your own creative endeavours.

Melbourne WebFest will again be holding our Spotlight Event at Loop on Thursday 29 July 2017.
23 Meyers Place, Melbourne CBD.

Underground Cinema

The Underground Cinema screens a different and undisclosed film monthly, complete with a costume party and full immersion perks. In this very illusive set up, an email will notify guests of the theme for that month, which hints to the film of choice. Upon arrival at the secret location, actors will surround guests and act out parts of the film to keep you guessing until the lights are dimmed.
