37th ANNUAL DERINYA ART and CRAFT EXHIBITION DACE
20th to Sunday 22nd July – an important date for the calendars!
Now in its 37th year, DACE has developed a reputation for quality, with artists exhibiting by invitation-only, thus ensuring a high standard of artwork that elicits reactions of delight and awe at every turn.
A wide range of artistic endeavours are also represented, with over 1000 exhibits on display including paintings, sculpture, photography, ceramic works, glass creations and jewellery. All artworks are for sale, with the exhibition providing a great opportunity for people to purchase an original piece at an affordable price, and the diversity on offer means there is something to suit everyone’s taste. Less than an hour’s drive from Melbourne, visitors to DACE can relax over coffee and cake or a delicious freshly prepared lunch selection at our Ruby Tarts Café, then browse the artworks at their leisure. Featured artists for 2012 are Cheryl Petersen (artist – acrylic and mixed media), John Madsen (artist – printmaking), Jenny Stokes (craft – ceramics) and Georgina Cunningham (jewellery – sea glass and fine bone china pendants), with Guest Judge Justine Milburn from Punk Milk Gallery, an installation space and gallery supporting all genres of emerging artists, including fine art, street art, illustration, sculpture, digital art, photography, fashion design, film, animation, sound and performance.
We are proud to announce our 2012 DACE partners are Hickinbotham of Dromana (wine), returning as a partner for a second year, and Mornington Peninsula Brewery (beer), joining us for their first year. Both partners are local, and their products will be on sale all weekend from dedicated marquees. The success of DACE would also not be possible without the amazing generosity of our sponsors.
We are immensely grateful for the ongoing support we receive from local businesses and community members, namely Ocean Blue Coastal Retreats and Bayside Real Estate. The opening night of DACE is a fantastic community event not to be missed, where visitors can meet the artists, enjoy great food, wine and live entertainment, and garner first choice of the stunning array of artworks for sale. Opening night tickets are just $20, which includes canapés, plus two free drinks from our partners Hickinbotham and Mornington Peninsula Brewery. Tickets will be available at door, or via pre-purchase from the Derinya Primary School office. $5 entry is available for the duration of the weekend.
Come to DACE 2012 and be inspired and enchanted by the amazing artworks on offer, and perhaps even purchase a piece that will provide you with a lifetime of enjoyment.
