Rhana Devenport, Director, Art Gallery of South Australia, officially opened the 2018 Graduate Exhibition on Saturday 8 December at Adelaide Central School of Art campus, 7 Mulberry Road Glenside.

The exhibition is an important milestone for the twenty graduates. Their works distil years of experience as visual art students and offer an insight into their future as practising artists.

The 2018 Graduate Exhibition is an excellent opportunity for audiences to view emerging trends in contemporary art presented by some of South Australia's most interesting new talent. Most works are for sale (and modestly priced), so you may even find something new to add to your art collection plus you'll be supporting artists at the beginning of their career.

Featuring almost 200 works the exhibition is curated to encompass the school's award-winning heritage campus at Glenside including Adelaide Central Gallery. This year's graduates explore a diversity of themes including nostalgia, sense of place, the natural environment, mental health, cultural heritage, gender identity and fantasy.

"Our degree asks a lot from students, challenging them to make complex connections between ideas and materials. The degree is designed to produce sophisticated makers, deep thinkers, and hard workers.

The ambitions we have for our students are what set us apart as a school. It is the reason we were recognised in the most recent national QILT Student Experience Survey as the best art school in Australia for the overall quality of educational experience," says the School's CEO, Penny Griggs.
