2014 ST KILDA FILM FESTIVAL IS NOW ACCREDITED AS A QUALIFIER FOR THE ACADEMY AWARDS®

Thursday 22 – Saturday 31 May 2014. The St Kilda Film Festival is proud to announce it has been recognised as an ACADEMY AWARD® qualifier for the Short Film Awards, held from Thursday 22 to Saturday 31 May 2014.

As Australia's oldest and largest short film festival, the St Kilda Film Festival showcases exceptional films by emerging artists, providing the most comprehensive overview of the national short film industry.

Festival Director Paul Harris is thrilled to showcase St Kilda and its thriving arts and culture on the world stage

"We are honoured the St Kilda Film Festival is now ACADEMY AWARD® accredited, recognising and supporting the profile of our leading festival, emerging artists and the Australian film industry," said Mr Harris.

Entries are still open for 2014 film competitions including AUSTRALIA'S TOP 100 SHORT FILM COMPETITION, the SoundKILDA Music Video Competition and the Under the Radar Film Competition for filmmakers under 21.

Celebrating its 31st anniversary in 2014, the St Kilda Film Festival, proudly presented and produced by the City of Port Phillip, will screen the Top 100 short film entries received with a prize pool totaling $40,000 of cash and in-kind craft awards.

Prizes include: Best Short Film, Best Director, Best Achievement in Screenplay, Best Documentary, Best Animation, Best Achievement in Cinematography, Best Achievement in Indigenous Filmmaking, Best Comedy and Best Achievement in Sound Post.

Applicants for the AUSTRALIA'S TOP 100 SHORT FILM COMPETITION and the SoundKILDA Music Video Competition can enter at www.stkildafilmfestival.com.au before Friday, 31 January 2014. Both competitions are open to Australian residents and it only costs $33.00 (incl. GST) to enter.
