Powerful, darkly funny Shanley play for Sydney from October 16. SAVAGE IN LIMBO is an arresting and brilliantly inventive play which moves from comedy to near tragedy as it explores the hopes and dreams of a group of rootless young ‘losers’ who congregate in a Bronx bar, hoping to find relief from the drabness of their lives. John Patrick Shanley is one of America’s most popular, celebrated and critically-acclaimed writers for stage and screen. A Pulitzer Prize and Oscar Award winner his credits among more than 30 stage works and screenplays include Doubt, Moonstruck, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Defiance and Alive. Here he has written a dramatically compelling play dealing with our search for roots and purpose in an often purposeless world.
