Things are Electric - Scarf designs created by artists

BY Things are Electric | 27-Jul-2017
Things are Electric emerged from the KSJ Design Studio in Melbourne Australia, in 2012, as an avenue for the owners to foster their love of art, painting & print design. The scarf designs are created by the artists in our studio, with the final prints coming to fruition with any combination of painting, illustration, photography and digital techniques. @ThingsAreElectric #ThingsAreElectric #scarves
“Using silk as the final ‘canvas’ is so rewarding” says Kate Sellars-Jones, the principal designer for Things are Electric. “The colours and textures created in the original artwork translate so faithfully onto silk. In fact the result is even better than the original, the work benefiting from the beautiful characteristic shimmer that silk possesses.”

While we love to keep an eye on what’s happening in the eclectic and creative side of the fashion industry our scarves are timeless pieces of art which are designed to be an enduring collectable addition to your wardrobe. Each design has a limited edition run, maintaining our commitment to producing beautiful and unique pieces……. ART WORTH WEARING.

About the artist

Kate Sellars-Jones is the creative director and principle designer at Things are Electric. Her career has been entirely immersed in the creative world. Graphic design was the starting point, and while this discipline still influences her work, her deeper interest in painting and illustration now informs the print design and pattern that adorns her scarves.

Artistic endeavour is the driving force behind the work and creating the original artwork by means of painting, drawing and photography is what sets her work apart.

Working from a studio space with other artists, the shared environment allows for free flowing creativity and the occasional collaboration. “ it helps to keep you inspired, having people around you who are pursuing an artistic career. We understand the process!”

Kate has always been passionate about textiles, so it was a natural progression to combine art with fabric and produce the range of beautiful printed scarves on silk …….art worth wearing!
