The made-for-television event Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald's Dance of Champions will be broadcast on Network Ten on 15 October, showcasing the best dance talent from the 2017 Sydney Eisteddfod.
A total of 16 finalists from across Australia will appear in this “dance of champions”, from a combination of dance academies and full time performing arts schools as well as academic schools. Each of the finalists secured their place in this prestigious event by placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in qualifying dance group events ranging from Contemporary and Lyrical to Jazz, Musical Theatre and Hip Hop.
For many performers Sydney Eisteddfod has been the first step towards a professional career in the arts, through providing opportunities for dancers at all levels; from the very first time they take to the stage in front of a real audience as Infant Groups, and as they develop and hone their skills as emerging artists in Open Age events.
The experience of working with a professional production team provided a great opportunity for the young dancers to learn invaluable performance skills, how to take direction and the importance of teamwork.

Dance North Academy (Narraweena)
Glenhaven Public School (Glenhaven)
Harbord Public School (Freshwater)
Joanne Grace School of Dance (Fairy Meadow)
