About Scarlet Klimek
Scarlet Klimek (born 20 December 1988), is a Australian singer-songwriter. Klimek has released two singles, "I Love You (I Know It Sounds Cliche)" and "Don't Talk Dirty". Klimek is the daughter of Australian musician Alfons "Alf" Klimek, niece of Australian film and television composer, Johnny Klimek, Australian singer-songwriter Jayney Klimek and cousin of Nic and Chris Cester from Australian band, Jet.
Born in Berlin, Germany, Klimek began singing from a young age appearing vocally with younger brother Phillip on a variety of soundtracks to popular german children's story-franchise Laura's Star (Laura's Stern), as well as voicing the character of 'Abby The Cat' to a soundtrack of popular children's book-franchise Rip Squeak.
At age 12 Klimek relocated from Berlin, Germany to her father's hometown of Melbourne, Australia where she attended Sandringham Secondary College located in Melbourne's southeastern suburbs.
Klimek claims she always knew she wanted to be a singer and credits her ambition to always having grown up in a musical household, spending much of her childhood days in recording studios. Klimek lists her biggest musical inspiration as pop diva icon, Mariah Carey, with her favourite song of all time being Carey's 1993 hit, "Dreamlover".
Klimek enjoys cooking and songwriting in her spare time, on average writing two songs per week.
Fashion and Lifestyle blog Bowtiesforbarbie.com describes Klimek's musical styling as "a unique blend of soulful lyrics accompanied by endless dreamesque harmonies".
Klimek wrote nearly all of the tracks on her forthcoming debut album, working with producer, father Alf Klimek and mixer Daniel Matthysen. Klimek's first song, "I Love You (I Know It Sounds Cliche)" written by Klimek was released on iTunes on August 12th 2013, with an accompanying music video released a week prior on August 5th 2013. Her premier follow-up single "Don't Talk Dirty" originally written by Alf, Jayney and Johnny Klimek, was released on May 8th 2014. Alf Klimek who also lends his vocals to the song's intro defines the meaning of the song as relating to "world corruption, with the hopeful message that 'one day I think we'll make it'"as the songs' chorus depicts. The music video displays a glamourous and oblivious Klimek amongst miscellaneous backdrops of war and destruction.
Klimek's next single titled "Letting Go" will be released sometime late 2014 with her debut album expected to follow shortly after.
