Kenny Pittock - A series of self poor traits

Published by: Galerie pompom | 1-May-2016
Hi, my name's Kenny Pittock, I'm a 27 year old artist from Melbourne. I've shown my work in Sydney before in group shows at Alaska Projects, Artspace and even here Galerie pompom, but since this is my first solo show in Sydney I figure it's only polite that I make it an exhibition of self portraits and poor traits, just as a way to formerly introduce myself, kind of like how Eminem's first hit single was "Hi, my name is".

Kenny Pittock (1988) is a Melbourne based artist who uses humour and sentimentality to playfully respond to contemporary Australian culture. In the past year or two Pittock has exhibited his work in many galleries including the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, the Monash University Museum of Art, Artspace in Sydney and Galleria 291 in Rome, Italy. His work is in the City of Melbourne state collection. Pittock says, "I've been lucky enough to show my work in some pretty amazing spaces, but even still nothing compares to the time I kicked an apple through a basketball ring from half court using my left foot."
