Gabby Malpas - Catch this artist when you can!! She can be seen in many venues in Sydney. Malpas artwork creates a world of escape with colours that blend into a world of familiar flowers and ethereal locations. All her pieces have layers of symbolic meaning. The beauty of her creations can be seen in many forms, from pillows to scarfs and even light boxes. To make your world filled with joy pick up one of her magical works at ArtSHINE Gallery.
Gabby Malpas describes her work "My work could be interpreted as purely decorative. By using allusion and symbolism, I weave stories into my work based on my experiences as trans-racial, Asian adoptee: joyful and chaotic assemblage of blooms and fruit displayed with a collection of ceramics from anywhere and everywhere but with a narrative that draws the viewer in for a second look. The result is a collection of pictures combining unexpected elements to create strangely familiar images. There are stories to each of my works that lift them from the purely decorative into a narrative piece."
~ You can currently check out her work @ ArtSHINE Gallery in the second floor and in their retail shop located at 3 Blackfriars Street Chippendale, NSW 2008. She also can be seen @ Crawford Gallery and has a light box at Chatswood Chase. Call locations for times on when they are open.
