Bathurst Mayor, Cr Graeme Hanger OAM, said the event offered a unique opportunity for the vibrant and diverse artistic communities in the Central West.

"Lismore has set the standard high for Artstate, but Bathurst can do it thanks to the talented arts practitioners in our region. We have Richard Perram OAM, Stephen Champion from BMEC, Tracey Callinan at Arts Outwest and Adam Deusien at Lingua Franca. I think we"re up for the challenge, and I"m looking forward to Bathurst showcasing what our region has to offer."

Regional Arts NSW Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Rogers said she was looking forward to working with Arts OutWest to deliver Artstate in Bathurst.

"Artstate Lismore has provided a fantastic opportunity for regional, national and international practitioners to engage with amazing artists in the Northern Rivers. We look forward to continuing the conversation and celebrating the excellence of regional arts practice in Bathurst for 2018. The Central West has a very different creative community and landscape to Lismore. I"m delighted to announce that the Arts Program will be developed by Bathurst based Adam Deusien, a former NSW Regional Fellowship recipient and I"m sure that the 2018 program will be as exciting as Artstate Lismore.

Artstate is a four-year program of conversations, partnerships and opportunities for regional artists and arts organisations. Its aim is to demonstrate the vibrancy of the arts sector in regional areas through a stimulating and inspiring two-day conference program alongside an exciting and diverse arts program that will feature a selection of regional NSW creatives.

Artstate is produced by Regional Arts NSW in partnership with the network of 14 Regional Arts Development Organisations.
